Casal de les Dones - Reus

Round table "Women and Economics: breaking down barriers" and presentation of the book Women economists: from the beginnings of science to the present day.

Round table on the barriers that women economists have overcome, moderated by Cori Vilella, professor in the Department of Business and Management and deputy head of ECO-SOS. Took part Mònica Boquera, delegate of ACCIÓ in Tarragona; Blanca Cabré, entrepreneur and Vocational Training teacher; Anna Estrada, former deputy executive director of CIDOB, and Catalina Jordi, professor in the Department of Economics.

At the same event, has been presented the book Women economists: from the beginnings of science to the present day, edited by URV Publications and edited by professors Josep-Maria Arauzo-Carod, José Manuel Giménez Gómez and Cori Vilella Bach.
This book highlights the role of women in economic science, which, in many cases, has been hidden or belittled in the midst of a male-dominated profession. You will find a selection of 29 women who have contributed or are contributing to the advancement of scientific knowledge distributed in four parts: beginnings of economic science, academic contributions, in the centers of power and at the service of social movements.
